Whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

Baffled … but blinded!

The apostles’ miraculous jailbreak baffled the religious leaders. There was no human explanation for their escape. The jail was still securely locked, and the guards were still guarding it as though nothing had happened.  But the prisoners had vanished.

Did this God-sized intervention suddenly open their eyes to the truth before them? Unfortunately, no. They went right back to trying to silence the apostles. They were so blinded by their hatred for Jesus that they missed the power of God right in front of them.

I love it when people are baffled by God! I love it when a doctor says, “I don’t know what happened. I can’t explain it.” Or when we hear of a near-missed tragedy or some other God-sized intervention beyond explanation.

Unfortunately, much like the religious leaders then, people today often miss the power of God when it’s right in front of them. They are so busy rallying against the name of Jesus that they won’t stop long enough to see His work in the world around them.

The enemy has blinded the minds of so many people. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. As followers of Christ, we must pray that God will remove the veil and open people’s minds to the truth as we continue to proclaim it … no matter what!

For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. – 2 Corinthians 4:6 NLT
