Though he falls he will not be overwhelmed because the Lord holds his hand. – Psalm 37:24 CSB
Not in my lifetime have things seemed so uncertain. What does the future of the country look like? Will we or someone we love get sick? If we do, will we survive? Will we lose our job? Will we be able to find a job? Adversities abound and everywhere we look we are reminded of the chaos. It is overwhelming.
The devil wants us to panic because fear paralyzes. He is whispering, “Uh oh. Now what? Things were going well, but… Sure, God can provide, but will He? You better figure out what you’re going to do!”
The lies chip away at my peace and my faith and the more I listen to them without a rebuttal, the louder they get. Yet in all the chaos, I can clearly hear God asking me, “Do you still trust me?”
Do you trust that My plan includes whoever is leading the country?
The Bible is clear that God establishes and removes leaders. He is not surprised by the outcome of any election. His plans and purposes will not be thwarted. Whomever He raises up as leader of this country will be used by Him. Ultimately, God will always be glorified!
He changes the times and seasons; He removes kings and establishes kings. – Daniel 2:21 CSB
For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. – Romans 13:1 NLT
Do you trust that I will protect you and your family?
God is a faithful Father and He will protect His children. There is no shortage of stories of God’s intervention throughout the Bible and all human history. I have seen His protection in my own life, time and time again.
One of my favorite promises from His Word is: For He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways. (Psalm 91:11) I know He has kept this promise many times. Some I have seen for myself, and undoubtedly, many I am not even aware of. I know God will continue to protect me no matter what comes my way.
Do you trust that I will provide what you need?
God knows what I need. Reflecting on my life, I can recall many times that I had no idea how our needs would be met. But God in His grace always worked it out in ways I never could have anticipated. We have always had enough; and ultimately, so much more!
We recently committed to being faithful with the tithe. For years this has been a sporadic occurrence rather than a faithful commitment. I always seemed to find a “good reason” why we were unable to tithe rather than stepping out in faith and trusting God. It has been an incredible blessing to finally surrender in this area. But now we face financial uncertainty and I hear God clearly asking me, “Do you still trust me?”
The tithe must continue with complete faith that God will provide!
“Bring the full tenth into the storehouse so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this way,” says the Lord of Armies. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure.” – Malachi 3:10 CSB
Do you trust that I will complete the work I began in you?
Nothing about my current situation will change God’s plan for my life. He will continue to do the work of sanctification in me. He will continue to use me to love people and spread the gospel. He will continue to grow my faith until He returns or until He takes me home.
Faith is found in the fire! And although I may be feeling the heat, I will not be burned. When Daniel’s friends were thrown into the fiery furnace because they refused to worship the king, Jesus showed up! And when they emerged, the fire had not affected them. (Daniel 3:19-27)
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. – Philippians 1:6 NLT
As the end of 2020 draws near and it seems like everything is on shaky ground, I must not forget who God is and what He has promised. And when I hear Him asking if I still trust Him, the answer must be a resounding, “Yes!”
