Why worry when you can pray?

Ever since I was little, I had a propensity to worry. I don’t recall specific worries – but I remember a Sunday School song that I would sing when sorry crept in. It reminded me not to worry…but to pray.

Why worry when you can pray? Trust Jesus, he’ll be your stay. Don’t be a doubting Thomas. Rest fully on his promise. Why worry, worry, worry, worry when you can pray?

As I became an adult, I claimed this Bible passage as the promise I would lean on whenever worry invaded:

For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. Psalm 91:11 & 12

I have prayed that prayer back to God countless times in my life. I have asked him to surround specific people and places with his angels, and as I prayed – I would picture angels protecting my loved ones. I have prayed it over my husband, my children, school busses, schools, airplanes, ski hills, and more. Before we moved into our house – when it was still completly empty – I walked and prayed this prayer in every room and around the entire house, inside and out.

Once you pray a prayer like that, you have to have faith that God heard and that he’s on it! His angels are there just as he commands them to be. No situation will occur in the lives of God’s children that hasn’t been approved by Him. No matter how we might see things, God always has our best interest at heart.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him and have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Don’t let the devil rob you of peace and joy by convincing you to worry. Especially moms. Whoever you’re worryng about, remember God loves them even more than you do.
