As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength. – Psalm 138:3
This verse is an incredible promise! Actually, it’s two incredible promises.
First of all, it reminds us that when God’s children come before him in Jesus’ name, he answers! He doesn’t say, “Let me think about it.” He knew his answer before we even asked. It may not be clear to us right away, but whether he says yes, no or wait – he answers us!
“I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!” – Isaiah 65:24
Then along with his answer comes his strength. He may give us strength to move when he says “yes” or strength to stop when he says “no”. Or he may give us strength to be patient when he says “wait”. When we bring our situation before God in prayer, he promises to guide us as his plan unfolds.
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. – Philippians 4:13
