A Practice of Sinning

We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them. We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under control of the evil one. (1 John 5:18-19 NLT)

Everyone has sinned. (Romans 3:23) The only sinless man that ever lived was Jesus. But once we accept Jesus as our personal Savior, the Holy Spirit begins to work in our life and we will strive to be more and more Christ-like. Sin should become more and more ugly to us, and real repentance should be born out of a genuine, Spirit given conviction of the sin in our life. We should not be willfully continuing with choices in our life we have recognized to be sinful. To be separating us from God. We should be turning away from them and not allowing them to become common place in our life.

Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression. (Psalm 19:13 NIV)

Think about the areas in your life that God’s Spirit has shown you to be a problem. Odds are if you truly are a child of God you are painfully aware of these sins. Turn from them! Even in areas that involve a lifestyle that has become an addiction or a way of life – God wants you to be free from it! Allow God to take over for you and with his help and your sincere desire to change the behavior – you can be free from it. Cry out to God to take control – to free you from the sin in your life – so that you can no longer “make a practice of sinning”.

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13 NLT)
