Access to the Almighty

Some people go through life depending on karma, or luck, or their own power.  They either deny that there is a god, or worship a god that is distant and non-relational.  But when something really big happens, they suddenly see that all that they’ve been depending is useless – and they find themselves crying out to a God that they don’t even know.  They suddenly become aware of the “God-sized” hole in their soul, placed there by their Creator and meant to be filled only by him.

But can we really have access to the Holy Creator?  Do we really have the right to approach the Almighty God with our requests?

Amazingly, God has shown us that although he is the almighty Creator of heavens and earth, he is also our Father – and that he loves us and cares for us more than we could ever know.  That is why he entered humanity as Jesus – Emmanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23);  Son of God, mediator between God and mankind.  That is why Jesus lived a sinless life then suffered and died a sinner’s death.  And it is through Jesus alone that we have access to God.

So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.  This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.  So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.  There we will find his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.  Hebrews 4:14-16

…we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus.  By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place.  And since we have a great high priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him.  Hebrews 10:19-22

Jesus told them.  “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one can come to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

…Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.  Ephesians 2:13

The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.  Psalms 34:17

He grants the desires of those who fear him… Psalms 145:19

If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior – He is mediating for you at the right hand of the Father, and you should freely cry out to him in praise and thanksgiving and in trials and adversity.  If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your Savior – he’s knocking at the door and waiting for you to let him in.  (Revelations 3:20)  And if you’ve been crying out to a God you do not yet know and wondering if he hears you – taking this step of faith into Jesus’ arms will assure you that he does!  And as you draw near to God, you will see that he is near to you!  (James 4:8)
