What are you trusting in?

“…What are you trusting in that makes you so confident?” Isaiah 36:4

We’re all trusting in someone or something. God placed that need deep in our souls to send us on a search for Him. Unfortunately, many people settle for far less than God.

Talent? Fame? Possessions? Money? Another person?
Sometimes its drugs or alcohol.
Or other religions that don’t offer the guarantee of redemption but rather leave you still searching. Always asking, “Is this the real answer?”

All of these “gods” are man-made. They offer no real answer to the question in everyone’s soul – “What is the purpose of life?”

God said: “Who but a fool would make his own God – an idol that cannot help him one bit? … He trusts in something that cannot help him at all. Yet he cannot bring him self to ask, ‘Is this idol I’m holding in my hand a lie?’ ” Isaiah 44:10, 20

But all of this “searching” is meant to lead us to the cross. The whole Bible is the story of God’s love for his people, their wandering away in disobedience, and his final plan of redemption and restoration through Jesus Christ.

That is the purpose of life! And our adversary, Satan, will do whatever he can to make us miss it.

Jesus said: “The thief comes to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

Don’t miss it! Call out for Jesus and let him give you eternal life. Once you do, he promises that “no one can snatch you away”. (Jn 10:28)
