Now That’s Faith

If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” (‭Daniel‬ ‭3‬:‭17-18‬ NLT)

Now that’s faith!  Knowing with confidence that our God is able to save us.  Even confidently exclaiming that he will do just that. Yet acknowledging that even if in his infinite power he chooses not to intervene, it won’t change a thing about our trust in him.

Can I acknowledge that?  When something is happening in my life, or in the life of someone I care about, can I rest in the fact that God will do exactly what is necessary to accomplish his will even if his response is not what I’m praying for?  Even if it appears that he is not responding at all?

If Jesus Christ is Lord of our life, he is our mediator. (Hebrews 8:6)  When we bring our troubles to The Lord in prayer, we have Jesus there interceding for us and our prayers are heard. (Hebrews 7:25)  With faith we must trust that God is moving, and that whatever the end result may be – He will be glorified and we will be refined.

These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ NLT)
