God created us to be exactly who we are. He created you to be you, and me to be me. He gave us each the passions and talents that fuel our goals and dreams. He prepares the way for us, providing opportunities and presenting obstacles, always with the goal of making us holy.
When we do not trust God for the outcome, we become paralyzed with fear. Our feet feel as though we’ve stepped in concrete and we remain frozen in place as the world swirls around us. But God wants us to keep moving forward.
When we find ourselves stuck in place, it’s time to change our perspective. We need to look at the road in front of us. Take our eyes off the cement blocks on our feet. Take our eyes off the distant horizon. Fix our eyes on Jesus who is standing right in front of us urging us to move forward.
One step begins the forward momentum and then it becomes a matter of persistence, keeping our eyes on Jesus as He guides our steps.
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. – Psalm 37:23-24
You know, I worry about whether I’m doing God’s will and wonder what my purpose is so often. I worry that I’m running out of time because I’ve been pursuing the wrong purpose. But I look at Moses and I see an activist who sensed his purpose, thought he’d blown it and then was called out to his purpose again. Joseph didn’t have a calling so public-he just had to marry a girl and take help raise a baby. Not that it’s a small thing at all. It’s just didn’t earn him long narratives in the Bible. Thanks for giving me a lot to ponder this weekend ‘ 😉
