Let go and let God

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalms 46:10

Never stop praying. – 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Do you ever notice that when you think you’ve got it all figured out the unexpected happens? This can be especially disheartening for people that like to be in control. (I would know — I am one of them.)

Giving up control is hard to do because we believe we can do it better or faster ourselves. But where does that leave us when our plans unravel? When something unexpected happens to turn everything upside down? The tighter we are holding on to “our way,” the harder it will be when it is torn from our hands.

But what if it is God that we’re giving up control to?

One of the areas in my life that has taken the most faith has been to get out of the way and let God do things his way.

From the seemingly insignificant events like getting a family dog, to the more monumental ones like moving into a new home, prayer and patience have prevailed and resulted in far better outcomes than if I had attempted to do it my way. I am so thankful that God has taught me to wait on Him. (Correction — that God is teaching me to wait on Him. I’m definitely a work in progress!)
