The basics of our faith.
The book of Romans was written by the Apostle Paul to the church in Rome to remind them of the foundational truths of the gospel and of their faith. He knew they were surrounded by immorality and idolatry, and he wanted to equip them with the truth so they could live set-apart for Christ.
Romans is a clear and methodical presentation of Christian Doctrine and practical application. It reminds us of what we believe as Christians and shows us how to live it out in our daily lives. It reveals the basics of our faith — the holiness of God, the sinfulness of mankind, the mercy of God, and the sacrifice of Christ. It shows us that salvation is the beginning of a sanctification journey. The start of a new life with an eternal purpose.
Paul’s message to the Christians in Rome is a message to all of us.
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. – Romans 5:1-2 NLT
